Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people ask before sending cargo to Nigeria

The questions we answer every day — costs, timings, barrels, vehicles, customs and how collection works across our six regions. Can't find yours? Ask us directly and a real person will answer.

How much does it cost to send cargo to Nigeria?

It depends on weight, size, service and destination. As a guide, air freight starts from £4.80/kg and sea from £2.80/kg, with barrels from £120. Ask for a quote and we'll price your exact shipment.

How long does delivery to Nigeria take?

Air freight is typically 7 working days; sea freight is typically 4–6 weeks. Times vary by state and by current port conditions at Lagos, which we'll always flag.

Which parts of the UK do you collect from?

We collect across six English regions: London, the West Midlands, the East Midlands, the South East, the East of England and the South West. Tell us your postcode and we'll confirm collection.

Which parts of Nigeria do you deliver to?

All 36 states — Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Benin City, Enugu, Kaduna and everywhere in between. Door-to-door delivery is available nationwide.

What can I send — and what can't I?

You can send personal effects, clothing, food and household goods, electronics, documents and vehicles. Some items are restricted or prohibited by Nigeria Customs; ask us before you pack and we'll advise.

Do you supply barrels, and how do I pack one?

Yes — we can supply the barrel, collect it from your door and ship it by sea. £120 if the barrel is yours, £170 if we supply the drum too. We'll tell you what fits and how to pack it so nothing shifts in transit.

How is the cost of my shipment calculated?

By chargeable weight: the higher of actual weight or volumetric weight (length × width × height in cm ÷ 5,000), times the per-kg rate, plus a handling fee. Minimums apply — 10 kg by air to Lagos, 25 kg to other states, and 50 kg by sea — though a 220L barrel is a flat £120 and works out cheaper than the sea minimum, so for anything drum-shaped a barrel is the better buy. Our Shipping Cost Estimator works it out for you.

Do you collect from my door?

Yes — we collect across our six English regions, from London and the Midlands to the South East, East and South West. Tell us your postcode when you ask for a quote and we'll confirm collection arrangements and timing for your area.

What does door-to-door actually mean?

We collect from your address in England, ship your cargo by air or sea, handle customs clearance on arrival in Nigeria, and deliver to the recipient's door in any of the 36 states. One company and one point of contact for the whole journey.

How do I pay?

You pay GBAS Worldwide directly — we confirm the price in your quote before anything is collected, so the number you agree is the number you pay. No payment is taken on this website.

Is my cargo insured?

Ask us about cover when you book — we'll explain what protection applies to your shipment and any options for higher-value items before you send. Always declare high-value goods honestly.

Can I ship a car or other vehicle?

Yes — by sea, from £1,500 for a car, £2,300 for an SUV and £2,800 for a van, priced on the length and width of the vehicle. You'll need the V5C and SONCAP compliance; our car shipping page and import duty calculator cover the paperwork and the clearing costs.

What documents can you send?

Passports, certificates, contracts, and house or property papers travel securely with our parcel service — by air for speed, with delivery to any of the 36 states.

When should I send for Christmas or Easter?

Sea cargo for December needs to be booked by September–October; Easter sea by late January. Air freight can go much later — typically 7 working days before you need it there. Ask us for the current cutoff dates.

Will I pay customs duty in Nigeria?

Personal effects in normal quantities usually clear without drama, but commercial goods and vehicles attract duty based on their CIF value and ECOWAS tariff band. Our Nigeria Import Duty Calculator gives you an estimate before you ship.

Are you a registered UK company?

GBAS Worldwide is a UK-registered company (No. 16358607) based at 105 Frizlands Lane, Dagenham RM10 7HL. You're dealing with a real, accountable UK business.
